Setting up and testing Packaging Checker

Edited

The Packaging Checker uses AI to automatically verify that specific packaging types - such as labels, hygiene seals, and tags - are present, intact, and in acceptable condition when items are returned. This helps reduce manual checks, prevent fraudulent returns, and ensure only eligible items are processed.

Understanding the different types of Packaging Checkers

There are 4 different types of packaging checkers. You can enable one or more checks based on your product types and return policies.

Packaging Type

Description

Packaging or boxes

Verifies that returned items have the correct packaging or boxes in acceptable condition.

Tags and labels

Detects missing, tampered, or damaged tags and labels.

Hygiene stickers

Identifies missing, tampered, or removed hygiene stickers, often used for swimwear, underwear, or similar items.

Seals

Checks for missing or tampered seals to confirm products remain unopened or unused.

Here's how it looks like in your returns dashboard:

Setting up the packaging checker

In your PostCo dashboard, look for Deploy > Packaging Checker under PostCo AI Agent section.

Note: All packaging checkers follow the same setup process.

Step 1: Start the setup

  • On the Packaging Checker page, hover over to a packaging checker that you wish to configure and click Set Up to begin.

Step 2: Review the product category

  • The product categories you added during training will be pre-selected by default.

Step 3: Decide what happens if the AI flags a return

  • Allow request with warning – The return can be submitted, but the customer will be warned it may not be approved.

  • Block request – The return request cannot be submitted if it fails the check.

Testing before going live

Before activating a packaging checker, it’s best to test it to ensure it works as expected:

  1. Click on the more options icon (⋮) and select Test.

  2. Upload sample images.

  3. The AI Agent will process the image(s) and display whether the return passes or fails the evaluation.

Test as many times as you need, and when you’re happy with the results, click Activate to start running checks on live return requests.
