Training your AI Agent

The Train section in PostCo returns dashboard allows you to prepare the AI Agent to recognise your brand’s packaging, tags, and identifiers - helping it detect discrepancies and verify authenticity during returns.


Before you start

Let’s get familiar with the different packaging types and statuses you’ll see along the way - this helps you know exactly what the AI Agent will be looking for during returns.

Understanding the packaging types

Each packaging type represents a type of identifier the AI Agent can check:

Explaining the statuses

  1. Training in progress - AI Agent is processing these images. Once complete, the status changes to Pending Review.

  2. Pending review - Images are uploaded but awaiting your review. Make sure that the correct product category is tagged. Clicking "complete training" will move them to Trained.

  3. Trained - The AI Agent has finished learning from these images and can now use them to verify returns.

Now that you’re familiar with the different packaging types and statuses, the next step is to train your AI Agent!


Training the AI Agent

Step 1: Syncing your products

When you open the Train section for the first time, click Sync all your products. This will import your entire product catalog from Shopify.

PostCo will automatically update your product list daily, so you don’t need to manually re-sync unless you’ve made major catalog changes.

Note: If you have added a new product category to Shopify, don't forget to review and manage the packaging type (refer step 3 for guides).

Step 2: Adding packaging references

Reference images are the visual “standards” the AI Agent uses to verify returned items. The different reference types include packaging and boxes, tags and labels, hygiene stickers, and seals.

Note: We recommend adding as many reference images as needed to help the AI Agent verify all your products accurately.

  1. Click the + icon next to either one of the packaging type to upload new reference image(s). You can upload multiple images at a time.

  2. Include clear images from all sides (front, back, sides, close-ups of important details) for better accuracy. The more detail the AI has, the smarter and more reliable it becomes.

    Note: You can exit the page while the training is in progress.

Step 3: Managing uploaded images

Once the training is done, you can click Manage to:

  1. Review uploaded images.

  2. Confirm or retag the product category.

    Note: Tagging the product category is important — without a category, the AI Agent will skip checking that item during returns verification.

  3. Replace or delete outdated references.

Don't forget to click on Complete training to finish training the AI Agent.

Note: Repeat step 2 and 3 until you’ve completed training across all relevant packaging types.


Tips for best results

  1. Use clear, high-resolution images for all your packaging references.

  2. Include images from all sides (front, back, sides, close-ups of important details).

  3. Update your reference images whenever there are new changes.
