Incentivising exchanges over refund with bonus credit
To encourage customers to choose an exchange over a refund, consider offering additional incentives. This not only boosts the likelihood of them opting for an exchange but also creates an upsell opportunity. By providing extra credits, customers get more to exchange for higher-priced items.
Setting up bonus credit for exchange requests
You can offer bonus credit to customers in two ways: as a percentage of the return item’s value or as a fixed amount. Here’s how each option works:
1. Bonus credit by percentage
You can provide additional credit based on a fixed percentage of the return item's value.
Example: If you offer an extra 10% credit and a customer returns an item valued at $30, they would receive a total of $33 ($30 + $3, which is 10% of $30).
Note: To cap the bonus amount per return item, enable the “Set up maximum bonus credit per return item” option.
2. Bonus credit by fixed rate
Alternatively, you can offer a fixed dollar amount as bonus credit.
Example: If you offer an extra $10 credit and a customer returns an item worth $30, they would receive a total of $40 ($30 + $10).
Note: For businesses selling in multiple currencies, you can set up multi-currency bonus credit to align with the customer’s currency. Additionally, you can cap the bonus credit amount for each return request.
